EMINENCE — The Owen County High School softball team swept a home-and-home series against Eminence last week, outscoring the Lady Warriors by a 37-4 margin.

The Tuesday contest was the District 31 opener for the two teams, with the Lady Rebels rolling to a 19-1, three-inning victory on the road.

Owen County senior starting pitcher Hannah Howard allowed just one hit and one walk over her two innings of work, striking out four hitters.

Sophomore Andi Baumann came on in relief and issued two walks and an unearned run in her inning of work, striking out one.

The Lady Rebels pounded out 10 hits over their three at-bats, led by sophomore Shaylee Glacken. Glacken doubled twice, singled, drew a walk, scored two runs and drove in three runs.

Both Hannah Howard and fellow senior Rachel Howard had two hits and scored two runs, combining to draw three walks. One of Hannah Howard’s hits was a double, and she also drove in a run.

Owen County benefitted from 13 walks issued by Eminence pitchers.

Sophomore Abigayle Dempsey tripled, drew three walks and scored four runs

Junior Kaileigh Gibson singled, scored and drove in a run.

Eighth-grader Lexie Chappell also had a hit, and both seventh-grader Hallie Tirey and junior Alli Settles crossed the plate twice.

Baumann, Settles and Tirey all drew two walks.

Two days later, the outcome was similar as the Lady Rebels rolled to an 18-3, three-inning win in the rematch between the two teams.

After winning just one of its first five games, Owen County improved to 3-4 with the sweep.
